Aspinwall Real Estate | Aspinwall Realtor

Founded  in 1892 by local business leaders who wanted to create a residential  enclave away from the dirt and grime of Pittsburgh, Aspinwall real estate today houses about 3,000 residents in an area that’s less than  half a square mile in size. This tiny piece of Allegheny County real estate is located about five miles up the Allegheny River from downtown  Pittsburgh.

The  idea for Aspinwall got its start in the mid-1880s, when Henry Warner,  then superintendent of the Allegheny County Workhouse, came up with  the notion of creating a small residential neighborhood along the  river’s shores. He purchased 155 acres of land from a Mrs. Annie  Aspinwall and formed the Aspinwall Land Company in 1890. Many  upper-middle class Pittsburgh residents quickly snapped up the 60  available home sites.
